Home of former DG Income Tax raided

Pune, Mar 16 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today raided the flat of former Director General Income Tax (investigation) at Oxford village in Kondhawa area here.

The raid was undertaken by the CBI after two private companies filed a complaint stating that Mr S K Sharma had demanded a bribe from them.

Mr Sharma, during his tenure, had raided various educational institutions in the city over tax evasion.

He retired in December 2006 after a brief stint in Delhi.

Bail granted to accused in Memon shoot-out case

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) A MCOCA court here today granted bail to Glen Issac Peter alias Michael, accused in the shoot-out case involving criminal lawyer Majid Memon, due to lack of concrete evidence. Issuing an order, Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) judge Abhay Thipsay said there is no substantial evidence against accused Michael in the chargesheet filed by the prosecution. India hosts opening ceremony of ITB-Berlin

Chaturvedi files bail application in session court

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) Noted builder Rajendra Chaturvedi, who was arrested on March eight for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to eliminate rival builder, filed a bail application today in the session court.
