Gender budgeting cells set up in 50 departments

New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) Gender budgeting cells have been set up in 50 Central ministries/Departments, the Lok Sabha informed today.

Minister of State for finance Pawan Kumar Bansal in a written reply said the budget provisions schemes that are substantially meant for the benefit of women as identified by the various Ministries/Departments in their budget allocations for 2007-08.

He said gender budgeting is an evolving area where with better understanding of the requirements, programmes/schemes are being continuously reviewed to make a more realistic assessment of the flow of budgetary resources and their potential to impact and address the development needs of women.

He said setting up of gender budgeting cells is a step towards providing an institutional mechanism to monitor gender budgeting and strengthen the capacity of line ministries/departmetns in the formulation of gender sensitive programmes/schemes, their proper implementation and impact analysis.

14.5 per cent increase in salary for employees predicted

Bangalore, Mar 15 (UNI) A 14.5 per cent increase in the salary of employees in India has been predicted by a survey by Hewitt Associates, the world's foremost provider of human resources consulting and outsourcing services. This would be the fourth consecutive year that salaries have demonstrated double-digit growth in India, according to a release by Hewitt and Information here today. Offering of commercial sites at Delhi Metro station

New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) Commercial spaces within Delhi Metro Rail Corporation stations are licensed out to vendors for commuter related items at most metro stations, Minister for Urban Development Ajay Maken told the Lok Sabha today.
