Geelani likely to get visa on Monday

New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is suffering from kidney cancer, is expected to get his US visa on Monday so that he can proceed immediately there for his treatment.

The US mission here today summoned Mr Geelani, his wife and son to get a brief about his treatment in that country. He is expected to get his visa and other travel documents from the mission on Monday.

Family sources said the Hurriyat leader has been again summoned to the embassy on Monday and hopefully he would be able to get the visa.

Mr Geelani needs urgent surgical attention for treatment of metastatic disease renal transplantation. Doctors suggested that he should be taken to the US for laser therapy.

When Prime Minister Manmohan Singh came to know about his ailment, he odered the authorities to immediately issue him the passport so that he can go abroad for treatment.

Woman dies in a road mishap

Kohima, Mar 13 (UNI) A woman died and her husband was seriously injured in an accident at Kiruphema near hear yesterday. According to police mishap occured when the jeep, in which the couple was traveling, turned turtle into a 200 ft deep gorge on National Highway 39 on Kiruphema. Police said the vehicle was on his way towards Kohima. The woman died on the spot, while, her husband was rushed to a nearby hospital here. UNI.....
