Food poisoning kills three in Bihar

Dehri on Sone, Mar 16 (UNI) An immigrant labourer from Jharkhand and his son and daughter died of suspected food poisoning at Gopibigha village under Dehri on Sone police station of Rohtas district police today said.

Three other members of the family were admitted into hospital in a serious condition.

District Police Superintendent N H Khan said a contract labourer, Ram Janam Oraon, and his daughter Mamta and son Pallu were found dead this morning, while his wife Kunti and two other members of the family were lying critically ill.

The victim, hailed from Katha village under Nagar Utari police station of Garhwa district in Jharkhand, Mr Khan said.

This was prima facie a case of food poisoning although facts would come to light after post-mortem was done, he added.

Ranchi, Mar 16 (UNI) Jharkhand's Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi today said posts of traditional village heads lying vacant would be filled by appointing Pradhan, Manaki and Munda in state. 8373 primary teachers to be appointeed in 6 months, Tirkey

Ranchi, Mar 16 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today admitted that education in the state was adversely affected by inadequate staff saying more than 8000 primary school teachers would be appointed within six months. After a long debate on 'Sarba-Siksha Abhiyan' and higher education in the House, Education Minister Bandhu Tirkey also informed that State Public Service Commission had been advised to do the needful regarding appointment of 8373 primary school teachers. Mr Tirkey agreed to the general concern over the education.....

Hotels observe bandh to protest the action of authorities

Bangalore, Mar 10 (UNI) Hotels and restaurants here this afternoon downed the shutters of their business establishments protesting against the locking of a hotel by Hubli Dharwad City Municipal Corporation authorities this afternoon. Authorities locked the hotel in the city for non-renewal of the license by the hotel owner but the Hotel Owners' Assocaition alleged that the hotel was locked at the behest of the land lord of the hotel building and gave a call for hotel bandh.
