Ferrous metal prices rise further

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) Ferrous metal prices today rose further on lesser stocks supply from industrial users in view of firm advice from London Metal Exchange (LME), traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange (BME) said today.

In ferrous segment, copper heavy and brass utensils edged up by Rs 700 and Rs 200 per quintal due to good demand from retailers.

Copper utensils and brass cuttings also increased by Rs 500 each per quintal on increased of fresh demand.

In non-ferrous category, barring copper wire bars, which hiked by Rs 700 per quintal on heavy demand from retailers, others remained steady.

Nickel Cathode also inched by Rs 130 per kg.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 33,200, copper utensils - Rs 30,500, brass utensils - Rs 24,200, brass cuttings - Rs 26,000 and aluminium utensils - Rs 12,000.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 36,200, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,400, zinc slab Rs 18,500, lead ingots - Rs 9,000, tin slab - Rs 730 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 2,330 (per kg).

Nagpur-based WCL is among 'Mini Ratna' coal PSUs

Nagpur, Mar 16 (UNI) Nagpur-based Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has become one of the five public sector coal companies in the country to have been granted 'Mini Ratna Category 1' status by the Government of India. According to a WCL release here today, the government has granted the status to the company along with Coal India Limited (CIL), Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL). Silver, Gold up on bullish global advices

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) Both the precious metals today went up on bullish global advices with Silver advancing by Rs 150 per kg and Gold by Rs 55 per ten gm on the Bombay Bullion Exchange. Silver fineness opened upward at Rs 19,410 per kg. It improved and closed at Rs 19,450 per kg with a gain of Rs 150 from its yesterday's close. In London, Silver also moved upward at USD 12.94/13.08 per troy ounce against USD 12.80/12.94 per.....

Call money closes firm at 9.50-10 pc

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) Interbank call money rates today spiked to 9.50-10.00 per cent during the end of the session as against their earlier close of 5.40-5.50 per cent, traders said. As the impact of the quarterly tax payments took effect, liquidity came under intense pressure resulting in the steep rise of inter bank rates. The sharp mismatch between the LAF repo and reverse repo numbers was indicative of the extent of the cash crunch. While the 3-day LAF reverse.....
