Fed urges govt to implement Nagarpalika scheme

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 16 (UNI) The Federation of Tamil Nadu Flat and Housing Promoters Associations (FTPA) urged the government to implement 'Nagarpalika' scheme in the state immediately.

Talking to newspersons here this evening, FTPA state president P Manishankar said the Nagarpalika scheme providing maximum powers to the local bodies was in force in many states, but not implemented in the state.

As per the scheme, the local bodies itself could approve the flat schemes as per the Development Control Rules, he said.

He damanded the abolition of vacant site tax in all the Corporations and Municipalities in the state. Similarly, the master plan of all Corporations and Municipalities should be revised once in five years, he said.

Stating that the Centre should have Price Control Mechanism for Cement and other building construction materials, he damanded its assurance on not hiking the prices of steel for another year.

National Conference of NGOs in Bangalore on Apr 28, 29

Bangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) A two-day maiden national conference of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), will be held in the city from April 28, NHRC Chairman Dr Justice Shivraj V Patil said today. Talking to newspersons here, he said that in all, 100 NGOs and human rights experts would participate in the conference. HAL Trainer flight creates panic

Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, Mar 16 (UNI) A trainer flight of the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) Bangalore created panic among the villagers residing in and around Serkadu-Royakottai forest areas of Krishnagiri district yesterday, when two of its empty fuel tanks fell to the ground. Police said no one was killed or injured. Based on information, a police team rushed to the spot and collected parts of the fuel tanks and informed the matter to HAL authorities, police added.
