Dry weather over the State

Bangalore, Mar 16 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the Weather Office here at 0830hrs today.

Dry weather prevailed over the State.

Maximum temperatures changed little over the State. They were above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and remained normal over Interior Karnataka.

Raichur recorded the highest maximum temperature of 37.7 degree celsius over the State.

Minimum temperatures changed little and were normal over the State.

Mysore recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 18.9 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Sunday morning: Dry weather may prevail over the State.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Dry weather may prevail over all the districts of the State.

Local forecast: Mainly clear sky. Maximum and Minimum temperature would be around 34 and 20 degre Celsius respectively.

Motion of thanks for Governor's address passed amidst dharna by Cong

Bangalore, Feb 20 (UNI) Karnataka Legislative Assembly today passed motion of thanks to the Governor's joint address on January 25 amidst dharna by opposition Congress in the well of the House. Mr Vishveshwar Kageri (BJP) proposed the motion and it was seconded by Mr Rajanna (JD-S). The motion was passed amidst slogan shouting by Congress members against the government and demanding holding election to fill the Legislative Council Chairman post lying vacant since last nine months. Seminar on reforming education begins tomorrow

Agartala, Feb 20 (UNI) A three-day seminar on 'Reforming Education in North-East India', will be held at the Tripura University near here from tomorrow. Eminent academicians from different parts of the country including Delhi, Kolkata, and the North-Eastern states as well as Vice-Chancellors of different universities are expected to be present in the seminar. NE states seek trade point at Pangasu Pass in Mizoram

Aizawl, Feb 20 (UNI) The NE states have urged Union Commerce Ministry to set up third trade point at Pangsau Pass in Mizoram to boost up the volume of trade with Myanmar. Commerce ministry officials here today said India and Myanmar had set a target of achieving USD one billion in 2006-07 and only USD 650 million trade has so far been done in this fiscal. Identifying the declining border trade through Moreh in Manipur, the officials said it was due.....
