Court allows medical treatment to 2 blast convicts

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) The TADA court today allowed medical treatment of two convicts involved in the blasts, which rocked the metropolis on March 12, 1993.

Designated TADA Judge P D Kode directed the Superintendent of the Arthur Road Jail to take Salim Durani and Noor Khan to the government-run J J Hospital for medical treatment.

Both Durani and Khan are in jail after they were convicted by the court under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act for participating in the conspiracy of the blasts and possessing deadly arms in the notified areas of the city.

The court has fixed April 19 as the date for awarding the final sentence to 100 convicts, including cine star Sanjay Dutt and members of the Memon family, who had masterminded the blasts.

Mughal Gardens to remain open on March 5, despite being a Monday

New Delhi, Mar 4 (UNI) The Mughal Gardens of the Rashtrapati Bhawan shall be open for the general public tomorrow, despite being a Monday, between 1030 to 1730 hrs. No entry, however, to the Gardens shall be allowed after 1630 hrs on March 5, according to a Rashpati Bhawan communique. Generally the Gardens are kept closed for the public for maintenance purposes on Mondays. The exception has been made in view of them being closed on March 3 and 4 due.....

President plays holi with children, PM has quiet day

New Delhi, Mar 4 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today played Holi with over 100 children -- some of them specially-abled, orphaned or suffering from thalassaemia -- from Delhi and surrounding areas. 2 undertrials thrash cop in court

Ahmedabad, Mar 16 (UNI) A police constable was beaten up today by two prisoners of the Sabarmati jail after they were refused to meet their relatives in the Gheekanta metropolitan court here. The incident occurred this afternoon when the undertrials Nagin Marwadi and Mukesh Rawat beat up the constable Kishoresinh when he refused to allow them to meet their relatives.
