Couple arrested for links with militants, arms recovered

Srinagar, Mar 16 (UNI) Security forces arrested a couple for links with militants and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in north Kashmir, a defence ministry spoksman said.

A joint team of 14 Grenadiers and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir launched search operation at Chowkibal in the frontier district of Kupwara last evening following a tip off that some people were helping militants and providing them shelter.

During the operation, security forces recovered two Chinese pistols, five hand grenades, seven UBGL grenades, one wireless set, and 34 rounds of ammunition from a house.

The house owner Abdul Rashid Khan and his wife Zarifa Begum were arrested, he said.

A case has been registered against them in police station Kralpora.

Kashmir remains cut off leading shortage of eatables in the valley

One killed, four injured in Baramulla blast

Baramulla, Mar 16 (UNI) At least one person was killed and four others were injured in a powerful blast near crowded bus stand near here today, official sources said. Unidentified militants triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the bus stand, where a lot of people were present. Initial reports said one person was killed and four others were injured and a number of vehicles were damaged. The blast was so powerful that its sound was heard throughout the town......
