Puducherry, Mar 16 (UNI) The committee opposing the acquisition of housing plots and land at Thengaithittu for the development of the port here has decided to intensify their stir to press the government to drop the proposal.
An emergency meeting of the committee held under the chairmanship of the committee convener S Kaliyappan here today, resolved to return the ration cards provided by the Civil Supplies department to the committee members.
Accordingly, xerox copies of the ration cards would be returned to the civil supplies department here on March 27.
The meeting was of the view that despite several agitations by the committee, the government was yet to announce its decision on the port development project, and wanted it to shelve the proposal.
It also resolved to take out a processsion on March 27 from Marappalam junction here to the Legislative Assembly to mount pressure on the government.
