China ready to share hydrological data with India

Shimla, Mar 16 (UNI) Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma today said China had agreed to share hydrological data for the Sutlej basin on which a number of hydroelectric projects had been set up.

''The flow of information had already begun and this would help in effectively dealing with eventualities like the Pareechu lake burst,'' he said at a press conference here before the inauguration of a passport office here.

Mr Sharma said institutionalised mechanism would be put in place for flood warning and other similar exigencies.

India concerned over rise of Taliban in Afghanistan

Shimla, Mar 16 (UNI) Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma today expressed concern over the regrouping of the Taliban in Afghanisthan and hoped that international forces present there would crush them. ''The regrouping of Taliban forces in Afghanistan is a cause of concern and we hope international security forces present there would be able to counter them,'' he said at a press conference here. Mr Sharma said India on its behalf was playing a significant role in re-building infrastructure.....

PMRP for massive infrastructure development: Azad

Jammu, Mar 16 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said the state is recieving massive financial support under the Prime Minister's reconstruction plan for public infrastructure development. Five, including 4 nuns, killed in road accident

Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Mar 16 (UNI) Five people including four nuns, were killed on the spot when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Siruganur on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai National Highway early today. Police said the accident occurred when the occupants of the car were coming to Tiruchirapalli to attend a condolence meeting while a groundnut-laden lorry was proceeding to Chennai from Manaparai. The deceased were identified as Amali Shantha (53), Grethal Loha (65), Petronilal (67), Alphonse.....
