Ayodhya civil suit hearing on April 9

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today posted the next hearing in the Ayodhya civil suit to April 9.

The order was passed by a special bench comprising Justices S R Alam, O P Srivastava and D V Sharma after hearing the two parties on a writ petition filed by Sunni Central Waqf Board.

Earlier, Faizabad divisional commissioner filed his affidavit in the case.

The petitioner had alleged that changes had been effected at the disputed site in Ayodhya without seeking permission from the Supreme Court or the High Court.

On the last date of hearing, the bench had directed the commissioner to file his affidavit.

12 persons arrested for supplying arms to naxals

Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 4 (UNI) Twelve members of a gang involved in the supply of arms to the naxals were arrested by the district police. Talking to newspersons here today, the District Superindent of Police (SP) Soumya Mishra said 12 persons were arrested in different places in this district. Ms Mishra said based on credible information, police arrested the accused, who were also involved in ganja smuggling in other states. UNI.....

HC stays arrest of Punjab Congress leaders brother

Chandigarh, Mar 16 (UNI) The Punjab and Haryana High Court today stayed till further orders the arrest of Punjab Police SP-ranking officer, Harmanbir Singh Gill, a brother of Congress leader Jasbir Singh Dimpa, who was defeated from the Beas assembly constituency.. While staying the arrest, Justice Mahesh Grover has issued notice to the Punjab goverment for May 14. The petitioner has alleged that he had falsely been implicated in the first information report (FIR) filed after the violent incident.....

Nexus between ganja peddlers, naxals busted in AP

Warangal, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 4 (UNI) The district police today unearthed links between a ganja smuggling gang involved in arms smuggling and naxal groups with the arrest of 12 persons and seized of weapons and 250 kg of ganja from them. Speaking to newspersons here, district Superintendent of Police Soumya Mishra said the gang, in course of ganja smuggling activities, came into contact with arms suppliers in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar. They also developed links with various naxal.....
