95 nominations filed on day 4 for phase I of UP poll

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Altogether 95 nominations were filed today for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh elections for 62 assembly seats to be held on April 7.

Now, a total of 156 candidates are in fray for the first phase.

Of the nominations filed today, 15 belonged to the ruling Samajwadi Party, 27 of BSP, 24 of BJP and one of Congress.

No nomination was filed for the Bilaur Lok Sabha seat for which by-election would be held along with the first phase of polling.

March 20 is the last date of filing nominations and on the next day scrutiny of papers would be done. Candidiates can withdraw nomination till March 23.

Lucknow SSP refuses to go to Meerut

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Lucknow Rajiv Krishan has sent a petition to Election Commission urging it to reconsider his transfer to Meerut in the same capacity. State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Bishnoi said here today the Commission had received an application from Mr Krishan citing reasons to reconsider his transfer. Nominations for second phase assembly polls in UP tomorrow

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Nominations will start tomorrow for the second leg of the seven-phase Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls in 58 seats of 10 districts in western parts of the state with the issue of the election notification by governor T V Rajeswar. Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) City SSP Rajiv Krishan was relieved from his post tonight after he refused to go to Meerut where the Election Commission had transferred him.
