Two minors killed, grand-mother injured in accident

Kolhapur, Mar 15 (UNI) Two minors were killed and their grand-mother was seriously injured when a car hit them near Sarnobatwadi on the Pune-Bangalore national highway here.

Police said the deceased brothers - Phakirappa Vittal Godee (7) and Mallikarjun (4) and their grand-mother from Belgaum district, were here and while crossing the national highway, the accident took place last evening.

Phakirappa died on the spot while Mallikarjun succumbed to his injuries at the Civil Hospital here. The car driver has been taken into custody.

Court sentences man to life imprisonment for murdering wife

Nadiad, Mar 15 (UNI) A local fast-track court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife at village Mehlav in Kheda district last year. Additional Sessions Judge T K Gurnani found Baldevbhai Vasava guilty of murdering his wife Shakuntalaben Vasava and awarded life imprisonment to him. The Judge also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 in default of which he would have to undergo simple imprisonment for another three years. The fine amount, if paid, should be kept.....

Surveyor suspended for accepting bribe

Surat, Mar 16 (UNI) A surveyor with the Varachcha zone of Surat Municipal Corporation was suspended today after anti-corruption bureau sleuths caught him red handed while accepting bribe. The accused Kamalesh Patel was caught yesterday while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,400 in a property transaction in Poonagam area, sources said. Five killed in two separate accidents in Beed

Beed, Maharashtra, Mar 16 (UNI) At least five persons were killed on the spot and five others injured in two separate accidents here today, police sources said. According to police, in the first incident three persons were killed on the spot and five others injured seriously when an autorickshaw they were travelling in, collided head-on with a speedy jeep coming from the opposite direction on the Beed-Parali state highway, about 25 km away from here.
