Speaker scolds member in MP Assy

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani today reprimanded Mr Nishit Patel (Cong) while describing the member's allegation as baseless.

As soon as Question Hour got underway, Mr Patel alleged that ''information is being obtained'' was written against 45 questions in the booklet. ''All the queries pertain to the Revenue Department so that the Revenue Minister can be harassed,'' he added.

Denying the accusation, Mr Rohani turned to the member and said, ''you are saying whatever you feel like. You should first check your information.'' Despite that, Mr Patel kept speaking and the Speaker said, ''are you going to say whatever comes into your mind?'' Striking the member's comments off the record, Mr Rohani clarified that ''information is being obtained'' was written against only four questions while the rest had been answered.

''Members should check their information before they speak,'' the Speaker added.

Mr Patel calmed down later.
