Singapore Dy PM meets Patil

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) Singapore Deputy Prime Minister S Jayakumar today held discussions with Home Minister Shivraj Patil on wide ranging issues, including communal harmony and terrorism.

Home Ministry sources said the talks at the North Block lasted 40 minutes.

''Both the leaders agreed to expand the scope of existing bilateral ties,'' the sources added.

Superannuation age for teaching positions increased

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for enhancing the age of superannuation from 62 to 65 years for teaching positions in centrally funded educational institutions under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for introduction of "The Inland Vessels (Amendment) Bill, 2005' in Parliament, with certain amendments. The amendements were recommended by the Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture to declare Lakhipur-Bhanga Stretch of River Barak as a National Waterway.
