Security alert in J'khand following naxalite strike in Chhattisgarh

Ranchi, Mar 15 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today sounded high alert in the sensitive areas of bordering Chhattisgarh in wake of naxalite strike in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh which killed 54 security personnel today.

Chief Minister Madhu Koda told reporters here that security had been tightened in those areas to counter fallout of the naxalite strike in the neighbouring state.

54 security personnel were killed and 11 others sustained burn injuries when armed Maoists stormed a police camp at Ranibodli in Dantewada district in South Bastar in Chhattisgarh.

The Jharkhand government was on its toes in its preparation to counter the insurgency activities following the killing of Jamshedpur MP Sunil Mahto on March four by the naxals.

TMC members gheraoed CM at Assembly, demand resignation

Kolkata, Mar 15 (UNI) The proccedings of the West Bengal Assembly today began on a stormy note when the opposition TMC members gheraoed Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and shouted slogans protesting against yesterday's police firing in Nandigram. Wearing black badges, the Trinamool Congress members, who were waiting for the chief minister to come in, surrounded him as soon as he entered the house. They shouted slogans at the top of their voice decrying the police action and demanding that Mr Bhattacharjee.....

100 dogs caught and 30 done to death in Mysore

Mysore, Mar 4 (UNI) Waking up to the grim situation after yesterday's incident in which five children were injured by stray dogs attack, the city corporation has today launched a massive drive to end the menace. In a massive drive against the stray dogs the city Corporation staff caught over 100 dogs and killed over 30 which were found with incurable diseases, and suffering from rabies by feeding poisoned meat. City Corporation Commissioner Dr Chandrasekhar said that the drive would continue.....

IIIT-B develops way finder service over mobile phone

Bangalore, Mar 4 (UNI) Bringing the fruits of IT revolution to the masses, the International Institute of Information Technology - Bangalore (IIIT-B), in collaboration with some private players, has developed a voice-based location and vicinity service that can be deployed over GSM networks. The technology was developed with the aim of providing a voice-based free service to the visually impaired.
