Protests against Nandigram killing disrupt traffic

Rajahmundry, Mar 15 (UNI) The volunteers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist-New Democracy) today staged rasta roko disrupting traffic in protest against the Nandigram police firing in which 14 farmers were killed and many injured.

The agitation led by CPI(ML-ND) town secretary K Joju raised slogans against the West Bengal Government and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Joju demanded the resignation of Mr Bhattacharjee and demanded an inquiry into the incident.

Cabinet Committee to decide on school derecognition issue

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee, headed by Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, will taka a decision on the fate of students studying in about 2,225 primary schools which were issued closure order at the end of this academic year, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti informed today. Speaking to newspersons here, he said the State Government had ordered cancellation of permission granted to these schools for allegedly violating the Government's language policy by teaching in English.....

Congress stages walkout in K'taka Council

Core banking solutions enter micro finance segment

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) Financial Information Network and Operations (FINO) today announced the launching of core banking in a Micro Finance Institution for the first time in the country with the recipient being Janalakshmi Social services. Janalakshmi is a urban micro financing organisation catering to the credit requirements of urban poor covering around 40,000 families in Bangalore with the cumulative credit sanction expected to touch Rs 24 crore this fiscal.
