Property gutted in fire

Kolhapur, Mar 15 (UNI) A fire broke out today at a cloth godown in the powerloom town of Ichalkaranji of this district and gutted a substantial amount of property.

Vardaram Prajapat's clothes 'pedee' (clothes stocks store), located in Ichalkaranji cloth market, had huge stock of cloth, computers, furniture and other materials, which was gutted in the fire, Fire-brigade and police officials here said.

However, no one was injured in the mishap and the cause of the fire is stated to be short-circuit, sources added.

Nadiad, Mar 15 (UNI) The body of a twenty-year-old woman, who drowned in Vatrak River in Matar village of Khedia district, was found floating near Motipura village today. Police sources said the victim Meenaben Mukeshbhai Parmar was washing clothes when she accidentally fell into the river last Tuesday. Mumbai-Nanded Nandigram Express to run up to Nagpur

Nagpur, Mar 16 (UNI) The 7605/7606 Mumbai-Nanded-Mumbai Nandigram Express will run up to Nagpur from next week and consequently be renumbered as 1401/1402. According to a Central Railway press release here, the inaugural 1401 Mumbai-Nagpur Nandigram Express via Nanded will leave Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) on March 20, while the inaugural 1402 Nagpur-Mumbai Nandigram Express via Nanded will leave Nagpur on March 21. Tea stall owner commits suicide

Kolhapur, Feb 20 (UNI) A debt-ridden tea stall owner allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his house at village Bazar-Bhogav in Panhala tehsil of the district. Police today said Deepak Laxman Bendke (35) committed suicide yesterday. Bendke had taken a loan of Rs 36,000 from a co-operative credit society, but failed to repay the same. Frustrated at not being able to repay the amount, he took the extreme step, police added. UNI.....
