Omkareshwar project to produce electricity this month

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) The 520 MW Omkareshwar Hydroelectric Power (OSP) project on the Narmada river in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh is nearing completion.

Construction of OSP dam along with 23 radial gates was completed. The first unit of power house was almost completed and will start generating power in March, as per an official release.

Permission had been sought from the state government to fill the OSP reservoir for the purpose.

The project's construction had started in October 2003. It took 3.5 years to complete the dam and its first unit.

The project has eight power units, which will start production one by one by September, the release added.

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) The main opposition Congress in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly today moved a breach of privilege motion against Commerce and Industries Minister Babulal Gaur. The notice for breach of the privilege against Mr Gaur was given by Mr Satyadeo Katare (Cong) to Deputy Speaker Hazarilal Raghuvanshi.
