Minister retracts statement

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Woman and Child Development Minister Kusum Singh Mehdele today retracted her statements made against a legislator in the Assembly after Speaker Ishwardas Rohani's intervention.

Mr Rampyare Kulaste (BJP) raised the matter of irregularities while appointment of Anganwadi workers during the Question Hour and asked for an inquiry into the matter.

While replying to supplementary questions, Ms Mehdele said there was no need for an inquiry. She said the member had no knowledge of rules.

Taking cognisance of the statement, the Speaker said making such statements against an elected legislator was not appropriate.

Upon this, Ms Mehdele said she took back her statements. An inquiry will be ordered as per the wishes of the concerned member.
