Microsoft formally launches Microsoft Virtual PC 2007

Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) The Microsoft India Development Centre today formally launched here its new product Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 which allow multiple operating systems to run at the same time on the same physical computer.

Microsoft India Development Center (MSIDC), Vice-President and Managing Director Srini Koppolu told pressmen here today Microsoft was very keen on virtulisation which was the order of the day.

He said this technology had vast operation in next five-years.

He said using virtual PC we could create separate virtual machines each of which virtualises the hardware of a complete physical computer.

He said Virtual PC provide a time-saving and cost saving solution anywhere users must run multiple-operation systems.

He said Virtual PC 2007 was optimised for Windows Vista. This allowed business customers to migrate to Windows Vista for a more secure and managable experience while keeping a previous Windows environment available to run legacy or custom applications in virtual setting.

He said Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 release was completely driven out of the MSIDC here which was the largest software development centre outside Redmond and was key and strategic to Microsoft's product development intiatives.

He said the MSIDC played an important role in contributing to innovation at Microsoft. It was fully integrated with the key product families of Microsoft and was the second largest MS Software Development Centre outside Redmond. The centre was started in 1998 with 20 people has now more than 1,200 employees working on over 50 products and technologies for the global Microsoft portfolio.

He said the centre had developed and released to the world-wide market many core products and technologies since its inception.He said the MSIDC was a leader in creating intellectual property from India and has filed over 100 patents in the last two years.

MISDC Windows Group, General Manager Amit Chatterjee said the team of the windows group had built up great expertise in areas like Networking, Virtulisation, Interop and Management technologies would continue to drive significant and strategic charters for the Windows platform.

He said the group owned more than 25 different technology areas spanning the client, server, core and networking areas of windows.

The Virtual PC provides multiple operating systems on a single physical computer and switch between them easily and could restore virtual machines to their previous states almost instantly.

Ramsarup Industries declare interim dividend of 15 per cent
