Measures taken to improve transparency in DDA: Maken

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) A number of measures are being taken for improving transparency in the functioning of Delhi Development Authority and preventing corruption, Minister of state for Urban Development Ajay Maken told Parliament today.

DDA had reported that corruption cases in the authority were dealt with firmly and criminal cases and disciplinary proceedings instituted wherever necessary, he said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.

Various measures had been taken from time to time to increase transparency and reduce scope for irregularities or corruption in DDA, he said.

The minister further stated that facilitation counters had been established for helping citizens in their work with DDA; senior officers of DDA were accessible to the public through public hearing for attending to their grievances; schemes, rules, procedures, application forms had been put on the website; draw of lots for allotment of houses had been computerised; posting of tender notices on the website had been introduced, disposal of commercial plots was done through well publicised public auction and various other measures taken as well to eliminate discretionary power and bring in objectivity and transparency in functioning of DDA.

Review of various measures taken for quality investigation, quick disposal of vigilance cases and improving transparency in various functions was also undertaken, he added.

Bank of Maharashtra registers 26 pc growth

Ahmedabad, Mar 16 (UNI) The Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) today announced that it has recorded a 26.09 per cent business growth during 2006. Talking to reporters here, BoM chairman and managing director M D Mallya said as on December 31, 2006, the bank had achieved business of Rs 51,914 crore, comprising Rs 30,766 crore deposits and advances of Rs 21,148 crore. DB President predicts inflation in EU to be below 2 per cent in 2008
