Man gets 5 yrs RI for raping minor

Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a man to five years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 13-year-old minor girl in 2005.

Additional sessions judge K U Chandiwal also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Tarachand Nevale (30) or else an additional six months rigorous imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, the accused had on June 28, 2005 kidnapped the victim from Shivaji Nagar at Govandi in and taken to a guest house in Mankhurd, where he kept her for three months. During this period, the minor girl got pregant. He therefore took her for an abortion where they were spotted by the victim's neighbour who informed the police. The police later raided the guest house and nabbed them.

As many as 14 witnesses were examined in the case.

Body of a missing yoth found in river

Surat, Mar 15 (UNI) Body of a tourist taxi driver, who was missing from Bhaiya Nagar in Poonagam, was found from the Tapi river in Navadi area today. Police sources said Rajesh Bhavsar (29), was missing since Tuesday. His relatives had filed a complaint with the police. However, Surat Fire Brigade sources recovered his body at around noon.
