Lukewarm response to Magadh bandh call

Jehanabad, Mar 15 (UNI) The proscribed CPI(Maoist)-sponsored dawn-to-dusk ''Magadh bandh'' passed off peacefuly, evoking a lukewarm response today.

The bandh was called to protest the custodial death of a Maoist leader.

Official reports here said, all shops and business estblishments remained open and three wheelers, long distance buses and trucks were plying on roads as usual.

Movement of trains remained unaffected and educational institutions and government offices registered normal attendance.

The administration had made elaborate security arrangements to foil the Maoist's call for bandh and additional contingents of District Armed Police (DAP), Special Auxiliary Police (SAP) and CRPF were deployed to meet any eventualities.

Biocon CMD exhorts youth to become entrepreneurs

J'khand Food Minister admits issuance of false ration cards

Ranchi, Mar 15 (UNI) Admitting the issuance of ration cards fraudulently and ''flaws'' in the Public Distribution System (PDS) in Jharkhand, state Food and Supply Minister Kamlesh Minister today said a vigilance committee would be constituted to find out the loopholes in the department. In the special debate on price hike, Mr Singh said the government had information of about 6,99,168 such false ration cards, and about 3,47,700 of these had been cancelled. 43 Australian Education Institutions to woo Indian students

Bangalore, Mar 3 (UNI) A group of 43 leading institutions from Australia, currently touring India, will be arriving in the city on a Student Recruitment Programme here on March 12. With about 39,000 Indian student enrolments in Australia in 2006-07, India was the second biggest source country for Australia. IDP Education supported by Australian Education International (AEI) and The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) is organising a country wide student recruitment programme covering Seven cities.
