Kerala Folklore fellowship, award announced

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 15 (UNI) Kerala Cultural Minister M A Baby today announced the Kerala Folklore Academy fellowship and awards.

Malayala Manorama Assistant Editor Paul Manail's book 'Keralathile Bhashanunapakshangal' was chosen the best book. He will receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000.

The three fellowships were shared by Podikkalam Parambil Kannan Peruvannan (Theyyam), Ustad A V Ahammad Kutty Master (Daft mutt) and P P Madhava Panicker (Marathukali), Mr Baby said.

Twentyfive artistes would be honoured with folklore awards in their respective fields.

P Koran of Kannur will be honoured, posthumously, in recognition of his contribution to the folklore field.

The fellowship contains Rs 10,000 and the award carries a cash prize of Rs 5,000. The awards would be presented on March 27.

Chennai festival encompassing art, music, literature opened

Governor inaugurates painting exhibition

Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today inagurated the painting exhibition on the theme 'Man's Relationship with Nature' at C P Ramaswamy Aiyar Art Centre here. The three-day painting exhibition, organised by Delhi based artist Trilok Pal, was showcasing several water colour paintings. Parks turn hotbed for cultural extravaganza

Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) Prosaic public parks of this city have become cultural hotbed, showcasing live performances of Tamil Nadu's rich and ancient art and tradition.
