IMFL worth Rs 10 lakh seized, 2 held

Varanasi, Mar 15 (UNI) In a major haul, the police here today seized a truck-load of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 10 lakh being smuggled into the city from Haryana.

Police said during a routine check in the Chandpur area under Manduadih police station a truck bearing the registeration number (HR 55 C 6224) was stopped.

On being checked, as many as 146 cases of IMFL worth Rs 10 lakh were seized.

The driver and cleaner of the truck were arrested, who later revealed that the truck-load was being smuggled into Varanasi from Faridabad (Haryana).

Investigations were on.

Patna, Feb 26 (UNI) Bihar government today announced to set up seed testing laboratories in 31 districts in the current fiscal. While replying to starred question of BJP member Giriraj Singh in the Assembly, state agriculture minister Naredra Singh said about five districts already have one seed laboratory each. Carbide waste: Centre directed to deposit Rs one crore for cleaning

Kancheepuram, Mar 15 (UNI) Police today arrested a 37-year-old man here this morning on charges of attempting to murder Former DMK Councillor Elangovan. Police said here today Elangovan and Babu had previous enemity. Last night, duo had heated arguments during which Babu took out a knife and inflicted serious wounds on the former councillor.
