Home Minister condemns attack on police in Chhattisgarh

Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today strongly condemned the Maoist attack on the Rani Bodali Police outpost in Dantevada district in Chhattisgarh in which 55 police personnel were killed.

In a statement here, Mr Reddy described the incident as a ''cowardly attack'' and said there was ''absolutely no place for violence in a democratic society.'' He said all the states should come together to fight the challenges posed by the Maoists. Any state had a duty to protect the life and property of the people and maintain law and order at any cost, he said.

Mr Reddy paid tributes to the killed policemen and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. He said the state would stand by the Chhattisgarh Government in countering the naxal menace.

KPTCL braces up to tackle power shortage during summer

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) With Karnataka likely to face a shortage of up to 15 to 23 million units of power a day during summer this year, the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL) has decided to buy power from captive power plants in the private sector. Kerala Govt sanctions Rs 13.6 cr to meet drought

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 15 (UNI) Kerala Revenue Minister K P Rajendran told the State Assembly today a sum of Rs 13.6 crore had been sanctioned to tackle the impending drought which was expected to be more severe in the state this year. Replying to a Calling Attention Motion by Mr M Hamsa (CPI-M), he said the next Cabinet meeting would decide on other measures to meet the situation. Entrusting supervision of relief work with ministers would also be decided at the Cabinet.....

New CFM56 Engine Maintenance Training Centre in New Delhi

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) CFM International, a joint company of aeroengine maker Snecma, today announced its proposal to open a fourth aircraft engine maintenance training school in New Delhi in 2010. CFM International India Vice-President Paul Andre CHevrin said in a release here that once the facility was fully operational, it could train up to 500 engineers from India and other South Asian countries annually. Similar to facilities already available in China, France and the US, the Centre would initially provide.....
