Head constable shoot himself with his service rifle

Rajkot, Mar 15 (UNI) An armed head constable allegedly shoot himself with his service rifle at Khambha in Amreli district, yesterday.

According to Amreli Police, Head Constable Pratapsinh Jadeja shoot himself as he was mentally upset after he transferred from Kutch district to Amreli district.

A colleague, who saw the incident, immediately took him to Khambha hospital with serious injury from where he was later shifted to Amreli Hospital, but he breathed his last on way before he could reach the hospital, police said.

The deceased Pratapsinh's last word to his colleague that he was unable to take care of his two kids and hence he took this extreme step, the police said. The wife of the deceased had died recently, police added.

Court sentences man to life imprisonment for murdering wife

Nadiad, Mar 15 (UNI) A local fast-track court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife at village Mehlav in Kheda district last year. Additional Sessions Judge T K Gurnani found Baldevbhai Vasava guilty of murdering his wife Shakuntalaben Vasava and awarded life imprisonment to him. The Judge also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 in default of which he would have to undergo simple imprisonment for another three years. The fine amount, if paid, should be kept.....

Surveyor suspended for accepting bribe

Surat, Mar 16 (UNI) A surveyor with the Varachcha zone of Surat Municipal Corporation was suspended today after anti-corruption bureau sleuths caught him red handed while accepting bribe. The accused Kamalesh Patel was caught yesterday while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,400 in a property transaction in Poonagam area, sources said. MERC members stage walkout during public hearing

Thane, Mar 16 (UNI) Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) members today staged a walkout during a hearing held to discuss grievances of people over the rise in power tariff in the state here.
