HC refuses to restrain four co-opted members from voting

Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today refused to restrain four co-opted members from voting in tomorrow's election of the chairman to Education committee of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and at the same time clarified that the election will be subject to final order of the court in the matter.

A division bench of acting Chief Justice J N Patel and Justice V C Daga refused to restrain the four co-opted members from voting in the election tomorrow, after lenghty arguments in the matter.

Leader of Opposition in the BMC, Harbans Singh had moved the High Court against the order of Mayor Dr Shubha Raul where she appointed four co-opted members on the Education committee of the corporation.

Mr Singh objected to the process adopted by the Mayor, saying it was not in consonance with the legal provisions.

The matter will finally be heard after two weeks.
