Govt considering 'satellite city' proposal

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 15 (UNI) Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today informed the Assembly that the government was seriously considering the proposal of setting up a 'satellite city' in the state.

In a written reply, he said the government was communicating the issue with various agencies within the country and outside.

Mr Kareem disclosed that the government had already held preliminary talks with a Malaysian government undertaking company in this regard.

If the proposal was materialised, the satellite city would be established in the Industrial Growth Center, owned by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) at Kinaloor in Kozhikode district, he added.

New CFM56 Engine Maintenance Training Centre in New Delhi

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) CFM International, a joint company of aeroengine maker Snecma, today announced its proposal to open a fourth aircraft engine maintenance training school in New Delhi in 2010. CFM International India Vice-President Paul Andre CHevrin said in a release here that once the facility was fully operational, it could train up to 500 engineers from India and other South Asian countries annually. Similar to facilities already available in China, France and the US, the Centre would initially provide.....

Police seize 400-year-old Quran from Kerala smuggler

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) The CCB police today seized a 400-year-old copy of the Holy Quran, valued at Rs five crore, and a rare painting of Thanjavur King Sarfoji and arrested a smuggler from Kerala here. Police Commissioner N Achyuta Rao said the handwritten Quran, which had the signature of Moghul Emperor Aurangazeb in every page, was applied with different perfumes in each of its pages. The pages of the 13 kg Quran also had a special coating, making it fire-resistant......
