Fight against militancy will continue in J and K, police chief

Srinagar, Mar 15 (UNI) Director General of Jammu and Kashmir police Gopal Sharma today said fight against the militancy will continue till the restoration of total normalcy in the state.

However, he cautioned the police personnel to be extra careful during the counter-insurgency operation so that the innocents do not feel harassed.

Speaking at a darbar held with the police personnel in District Police Line at Ganderbal today, he said restoration of total peace in the state was the first priority for the police and other security agencies.

He said fight against the militants will continue if they do not give up the arms and join the national mainstream.

Mr Sharma said no Human Rights violations would be tolerated and those who will cross their limits during the counter insurgency operations will have to face the law of the land.

The police chief also visited Police Training School, Manigam, where police personnel are being trained.

Three bodies of girl students recovered from river

Shimla, Mar 15 (UNI) The bodies of three girl students, who had gone missing on Tuesday from Jhajhar village of the district after appearing in an examination in Chakli Middle School, were recovered from a small river in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh today. Police sources said the bodies of the girls, identified as Indra Devi, Veena Devi and Kiran, were recovered from the river after a passerby informed the police.
