Court takes cognizance against Thackeray

Patna, Mar 15 (UNI) The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate(CJM) today took cognizance against president of Maharastra Navnirman Sena Raj Thackeray in connection with a case relating to his anti-Bihari speech.

CJM Sushma Sinha directed the Sub-divisional Magistrate of Patna to investigate the matter and apprise the court on March 17, 2007 the next date of hearing.

One Avinash Kumar Chaudhary, a social worker, filed petition in the court, alleging that Mr Thackeray had made inflammatory speech hurting the sentiments of the people from Bihar.

Bihar govt to check illegal sale of Nepali Vansapati

Patna, Feb 26 (UNI) Bihar government today announced action against officers involved in the illegal transportaion and sale of 'Nepali' Vansapati in the state. Replying to a starred question of opposition BJP member Bhola Singh, Deputy chief minister Sushil Modi, who also holds the finance portfolio, admitted the rampant and illegal sale of Nepali Vanaspati in the market and said the government was mulling action against the guilty officials. Graveyards to be cordonned off to stop encroachments: Nitish

Patna, Feb 26(UNI) As a permanent solution to the problem of encroachments, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced to cordon off all the graveyards in the state. Mr Kumar said the government has framed a new policy, simplifying the old ones, to cordon off the graveyards. The District Magistrates had been directed to prapare the list of the graveyards in their jurisdiction on the basis of their locational importance, he added. Two arrested with ivories in National Rajaji Park

Dehradun, Mar 15 (UNI) Forest Officials arrested two persons and recovered two elephant ivories weighing 19.1kg from Rasulpur area in Rajaji National Park on tuesday, official said. DFO Chila Range, Girija Shankar Pandey yesterday said that on a tip off, team of Forest Range Officers raided a place at Village Rasulpur under thana Shyampur in Haridwar district at around 2200 hrs and arrested Shankar Datt and Jagdish Chandra and recovered two ivories from them that measured 1.38 metres each and collectively.....
