CITU workers assault mediapersons

Barrackpore, Mar 15 (UNI) A few mediapersons were today manhandled by CITU workers in the Gluconet Health Limited premises at Durganagar under Dum Dum police station in North 24 Parganas.

The incident occured during the inaguration of GHL revival, a state government undertaking, by West Bengal Industry Minister Nirupam Sen.

The CITU activists assaulted mediapersons, when the latter approached the minister asking for his comments on the Nandigram issue.

Patna, Feb 26 (UNI) Bihar government today announced action against officers involved in the illegal transportaion and sale of 'Nepali' Vansapati in the state. Graveyards to be cordonned off to stop encroachments: Nitish

Patna, Feb 26(UNI) As a permanent solution to the problem of encroachments, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced to cordon off all the graveyards in the state. Mr Kumar said the government has framed a new policy, simplifying the old ones, to cordon off the graveyards. The District Magistrates had been directed to prapare the list of the graveyards in their jurisdiction on the basis of their locational importance, he added. Two arrested with ivories in National Rajaji Park

Dehradun, Mar 15 (UNI) Forest Officials arrested two persons and recovered two elephant ivories weighing 19.1kg from Rasulpur area in Rajaji National Park on tuesday, official said. DFO Chila Range, Girija Shankar Pandey yesterday said that on a tip off, team of Forest Range Officers raided a place at Village Rasulpur under thana Shyampur in Haridwar district at around 2200 hrs and arrested Shankar Datt and Jagdish Chandra and recovered two ivories from them that measured 1.38 metres each and collectively.....

Dehra Dun, Mar 15 (UNI) Two people, who were arrested by the forest officials for allegedly smuggling two elephant ivories weighing 19.1 kg in Rasulpur area in Rajaji National Park on Tuesday, were sent to jail after being produced before a court today.
