Chronology of naxal violence in Bastar

Raipur, Mar 15 (UNI) Following is the chronology of major naxal attacks in Chhattisgarh's tribal Bastar region since June 2005 when the locals launched an anti-rebel campaign, naming it 'Salwa Judum', which in local Gondi dialect means peace movement.

March 15, 2007 : Maoists attack police camp at Ranibodli in Dantewada district, killing 50 people, including 16 personnel of the Chhattisgarh Special Armed Force March 7, 2007 : Eight people, including two civilians, killed in landmine blast near Errabore February 8, 2007 : Five killed in landmine explosion on Bijapur-Geedam road January 16, 2007 : Seven policemen killed in blast at Narayanpur in Bastar district July 17, 2006 : Naxals storm relief camp at Errabore, killing 33 people, including women and children April 16, 2006 : Eleven policemen killed in rebel attack on a police camp at Murkinar March 25, 2006 : Thirteen villagers killed when Maoists blow up a jeep at Pakhanjur in Kanker district February 28, 2006 : Thirty-three Salwa Judum activists killed in landmine explosion triggered by rebels while they were returning after attending an anti-naxal rally February 10, 2006 : Maoists raid National Mineral Development Corporation depot, kill eight Central Industrial Security Force personnel and loot a large quantity of explosives February 8, 2006 : Seven security personnel killed while attempting to defuse landmines laid by the naxals in Dantewada district February 6, 2006 : Nine personnel of Nagaland Armed Force killed in landmine blast on Bhejji-Injaram road September 3, 2005 : 25 Central Reserve Police Force men killed when rebels blow up anti-landmine vehicle on Gangaloor road in Dantewada district.

Samjhauta probe: Haryana Police summons shop owner

Indore, Mar 15 (UNI) Haryana Police has summoned a local bags shop owner and two others for questioning tomorrow in the February 18 terrorist attack on the Samjhauta Express, killing about 70 people and injuring 50. The owner Jenuddin's relative Hujra Shah and an employee Puran Thakur were arrested on Tuesday and taken away as suspects and for not cooperating with the investigation. Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 15 (UNI) Twenty-eight girls had a miraculous escape when naxals stormed a police camp -- housed in an Ashram school building -- at Dantewada district's Ranibodli, killing 50 people in the wee hours today. Crop damage survey in a fortnight: Minister

Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) Survey to assess damage to crops caused by recent unseasonal rains and hailstorm in different districts of Madhya Pradesh will be carried out within a fortnight and compensation distributed at the earliest, Revenue Minister Kamal Patel told the Assembly today.
