Asst Sub-Inspector and constable suspended for negligence

Mysore, Mar 15 (UNI) An Assistant Sub-Inspector and a constable were placed under suspension for negligence of duty while escorting Karnataka Cooperative Minister G T Deve Gowda, who was injured in an accident on Tuesday while returning after attending village festival at Chikka Kanya, near here.

District Superintendent of Police S Murugan said the action was taken on a report from Deputy Superintendent of Police Cheluvaraju who probed into the incident.

''It was the duty of escort to lead the VIP convoy and ply at a particular distance and should not speed away. In this case it was alleged that the escort jeep, in which the Assistant Sub-Inspector was travelling and the constable was driving, was far away from the accident spot'', he added.

Meanwhile, Mr Gowda, admitted to a private hospital has been recovering and would be discharged soon.

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) Financial Information Network and Operations (FINO) today announced the launching of core banking in a Micro Finance Institution for the first time in the country with the recipient being Janalakshmi Social services. Kerala proposes to change shock treatment for mental patients

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 15 (UNI) Kerala Health Minister P K Sreemathy today told the Assembly that the government was proposing to make a change to the existing system of 'shock treatment' for treating mental patients. Replying to queries by Mr K Ajith and others, she said the government would discuss the issue with experts in this field for replacing the cruel method of treatment with counselling. Ms Sreemathy said steps would also be taken to impart training to nurses working in mental.....
