Annual Brahmotsavam of temple on Mar 17

Tirupati, Mar 15 (UNI) The Annual Brahmotsavam of Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple will be celebrated here from March 17 with 'Ankurarpanam tomorrow.

The nine-day festival would include Dwajarohanam on March 17, Garuda Vahanam on March 21, Hanumantha Vahanam on March 22, Radhotsavam on March 24. It would conclude with Chakrasnanam on March 25, according to a TTD release here.

Kalyanotsavam, would be performed on March 28 instead of March 27, the Punarvasu star day.

The three-day Sri Rama Navami would be celebrated from March 27, while Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam would be performed on March 28 and Sri Rama Pattabhishekam on March 29.

The three-day Sri Kodandaramaswamy Teppotsavams would also be performed in Sri Ramachandra Pushkarini from March 31.

During the festival, religious discourses and cultural programmes would be conducted by TTD-Dharma Prachar Parishad (DPP) and Annamacharya Project.

Govt announces March 19 as holiday for 'Ugadi'

Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Finance and Legislative Affairs K Rosaiah today informed the Assembly that the government had decided to declare holiday for 'Ugadi' (Telugu New Year's Day) on March 19, 2007 instead of March 20 as decided earlier. Announcing this in the House, he said normally the government consulted the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) to decide religious holidays and March 20 was declared holiday as per TTD's advise. More organisations join Cauvery stir

Wild elephant tramples to death middle-aged man

Mysore, Mar 6 (UNI) A wild elephant trampled to death a 55-year-old man at Panchidodde in neighbouring Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka, today. Police said Madaiah of Panchidodde was proceeding to the nearby village in M M Hills area when the pachyderm charged at him. Forest officials said wild elephants were moving around the area in search of food and water spots. It may be recalled here that only yesterday two 15-year-old wild jumbos had been electrocuted at Yalakkaru.....
