Altera introduces low cost FPGA

Bangalore, Mar 15 (UNI) Altera Corporation today announced the availability of Cyclone III family, the industry's first 65 nm low cost Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)s.

The new FPGAs consume 75 per cent less power than competing products and deliver 5000 to 120,000 logic elements, upto four Mbits of memory and upto 288 digital signal processing multipliers, Altera Marketing manager for Asia Pacific Razak Mohammadali told newsmen here.

He said more than 80,000 products are currently developed using FPGAs and over the next few years the number was expected to cross 120,000 he added.

Altera's programmable solutions enabled system and semiconductor companies to rapidly and cost effectively innovate, differentiate and win in their markets, he added.

Indo-Australian conference on Pharmacogenomics on Mar 17, 18

232 year old Chepauk Palace collapses

Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) The ''Grand Chepauk palace'' a 232-year-old Heritage structure in Chennai city, collapsed here last evening. No one was injured in the incident as the palace was not in use. A government office, functioning from the place, was shifted to a new building recently. PDK holds demo against National Security Act

Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (PDK) activists today staged a demonstration here today protesting the 'repressive' National Security Act. The demonstrators shouted slogans against the Tamil Nadu Government for allegedly detaining seven of its volunteers for the last 100 days under the Act.
