3 die in road accident, irate mob torch hospital

Berhampur, Mar 15 (UNI) An irate mob today set ablaze a hospital and ransacked NAC office here following the death of three people including a woman and her child, in a road accident yesterday.

Police said the woman and her five-year-old child along with another man died on the spot while 14 were seriously injured when a mini bus carrying them had a head-on collision with a tractor near Purushottampur area, about 64 km from here, last night.

The bus was on its way to Polsara via Purushottampur from Berhampur when the tractor rammed into it.

The injured have been rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.

Peeved over the neglect in treatment and a meager staff, the irate locals attacked the Purushottampur hospital and set it on fire.

They also protested against appointment of a single doctor in the hospital who was unable to treat the accident victims.

100 dogs caught and 30 done to death in Mysore

Mysore, Mar 4 (UNI) Waking up to the grim situation after yesterday's incident in which five children were injured by stray dogs attack, the city corporation has today launched a massive drive to end the menace. In a massive drive against the stray dogs the city Corporation staff caught over 100 dogs and killed over 30 which were found with incurable diseases, and suffering from rabies by feeding poisoned meat. City Corporation Commissioner Dr Chandrasekhar said that the drive would continue.....

IIIT-B develops way finder service over mobile phone

A Journalist and his wife arrested on defamatory charges

Mangalore, Mar 4 (UNI) A Journalist of an eveninger 'Karavali Ale' and his wife and Managing Director of the group of publication were arrested on the charges of defamatory writings on Jain Digambar Munis. Panambur Police arrested Journalist B V Sitharam and his wife Rohini last night on a complaint filed by Jain Association Office bearer Rajavarma Ballal who had alleged that 'Karavali Ale' had published derogatory writings on nude munis on jain community. The arrested were remanded to judicial custody.....
