18 fishermen nabbed by Pakistan securitymen

Porbandar, Mar 15 (UNI) Eighteen Fishermen were arrested by the Pakistani Maritime Securitymen off Jakhau port while they were sailing in the Arabian sea.

Gujarat Fishermen Association Secretary Manish Lodhari said the fishermen were fishing in the high sea off Jakhao port late last night when they were nabbed by the Pakistani Maritime securitymen who towed them towards Pakistan. Three boats in which they were sailing have also been impounded by them, Indian Coast Guards have been informed about the incident and urged to take immediate action, he said.

Kohima, Mar 15 (UNI) Two NSCN-IM cadres were abducted by suspected rival NSCN(K) activists and later shot dead in Zunheboto district last evening, official sources said today. According to official reports, one of the NSCN-IM cadres was abducted from Akuluto town and the other from Lumami village, after which they were both shot and killed at a place between Lumami and Lumthsami village at about 1730 hrs. AMWJU condemns assault of mediapersons by AR troops

Imphal, Mar 15 (UNI) The All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) today condemned the assault on journalists by some jawans of 38 Assam Rifles at Kotlen in Senapati district yesterday. AMWJU sources said the AR personnel assaulted these journalists, while they were taking a report on the alleged rape of an 18-year-old girl by a few AR jawans on March 13. The troops also threatened the journalists to erase the photographs of the incident in which the troops were seen.....

India ranks top in rabies deaths in Asia

Bangalore, Mar 3 (UNI) India has the dubious distinction of ranking top in rabies deaths among the Asian countries, with over 20,000 deaths reported every year, Dr F X Meslin of the World Health Organisation (WHO) said today.
