Zeliangrong students to stage protest in Kohima on Friday

Kohima, Mar 14(UNI) The Zeliangrong Students' Union of Nagaland(ZSUN) and All Zeliangrong Students Union(AZSU) will stage a 'dharna' in Kohima on March 16 as part of the second phase of agitation against non-implementation of various demands by the state government.

It may be mentioned here that both the organisation had sponsored a 12-hour bandh in Peren district on March 7 in protest against the lack of response from the Nagaland government for their demands, including immediate eviction of land encroachers from Ntangki National Park, land exchange between Forest Department and Beisumpuikam village.

US urges restraint to authorities, protesters after Islamabad clash

Washington, Mar 17 (UNI) The Bush administration has urged Pakistani authorities and demonstrators to exercise the utmost degree of restraint in the wake of the violent clashes provoked by President Pervez Musharraf's firing of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry. Commenting on the developing situation in Islamabad, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack yesterday said, ''the dispute between General Musharraf's government and the Pakistani judiciary needs to be worked out within the confines of Pakistani law, tradition and their constitution.'' India Post plans to upgrade facilities in Andamans

Port Blair, Mar 14 (UNI) India Post is all set to introduce speed post facilities in some remote Andaman and Nicobar islands to upgrade the postal facilities in the far-flung archipelago. ''Speed Post facilities will be introduced shortly at Betapur, Nancowire, Ferrargunj(Beachdera), Humfrigunj, Tirur(Herbertabad) and Bakultala Post offices of South and North Andaman,'' postal official Madhumita Das said here today. She said that the department has in recent months introduced a number of new value-added services for the special needs.....

Bush rules out talks with new Palestinians government

Washington, Mar 17 (UNI) US President George W Bush has made it clear that he will not negotiate with the new Palestinian government in view of its refusal to accept international conditions, including recognition of Israel's right to exist. White House Spokesman Tony Snow gave this information to newsmen yesterday after President Bush's telephone-talk with Saudi King Abdullah and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. The President exchanged view with King Abdullah and President Mubarak on the situation in Palestinian where rival groups.....
