Wollongong varsity announces 9 scholarships to Indian students

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) The University of Wollongong, Australia, has announced nine scholarships worth about Rs 30 lakh to Indian students as part of the Wollongong International coursework scholarship scheme.

The scholarships are designed to encourage high achieving students opting for Wollongong University's most popular courses.

Successful students could save half of their tuition costs, a varsity release here said.

The scholarships could be availed for courses like MBA (Advanced), Master of Engineering Practice, Masters' coursework in Computer Science, Master of Information and Communication Technology and Master of Public Health and M Sc (Bio-Technology).

The scholarship applications closes on April 20 and interested students could avail further details by visiting the University's site +www.uou.au/prospective/international+, the release added.

Rejecting marriage proposal proves costly for student

Bijapur, Karnataka, Mar 1 (UNI) A spurned love affair cost a nursing college student her life, on the college campus here today. Police said the young woman, Parveen (29), had turned down a marriage proposal from fellow student Shekarappa Hadapad, hailing from a nearby village. Unable to digest the spurning, an infuriated Hadapad beat her to death with an iron rod. Hadapad was immediately arrested by the police. UNI.....

Neera, wine, cashew policies on the anvil

Bangalore, Mar 1 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will introduce policies on Neera, Wine and Cashew shortly to promote the interests of farmers, Horticulture Minister Shashikant Naik said today. More than five lakh appear for Kerala SSLC exams

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 14 (UNI) Over 5 lakh students, including 2.3 lakh girls, sat for the Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination, which began here today. Elaborate arrangements had been made for the conduct of the examination in a foolproof manner. Police were posted at the centres where the question papers were kept.
