Three held for attacking BJP youth leader

Rajkot, Mar 13 (UNI) Three persons have been arrested for allegedly attacking a BJP youth leader here.

Jitu Mehta was attacked last night by the accused and eight other friends, after he warned them against teasing a girl at a local PCO booth, police sources said.

Mr Mehta sustained minor injuries in the attack.

The police are on the look out for the remaining accused, sources added.

Akola, March 13 (UNI) Five women of a family met with tragic end when a heap of white clay was caved in on them at village Malegaon under Jaulka police station bordering Washim district last evening. According to police, the deceased belonged to one family and were identified as Savita Prashant Athwale (25), Gokula Ashok Athwale (16), Uma Devidas Athwale (22), Rupali Shivdas Athwale (13) and Ujwala Madan Athwale (35). Person killed after trapped in fodder cutter

Akola, March 13 (UNI) A person was killed on the spot as he was trapped in the fodder cutter while taking a trial at village Nimkarda near here yesterday. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Shankar Satarkar, who along with his son Nilesh, was taking trial of the fodder cutter with the tractor. Police said some youths entered the Zulelal Dharmashala in Sindhi Khadan area of the city yesterday where the marriage ceremony between Patil-Ghatwal families was going on. Following a quarrel with the band party, the group damaged the wash basins, tube-lights and furniture in the hall. 11 kids take ill after consuming mid-day meal

Akola, Mar 13 (UNI) 11 kids have taken ill due to food poisoning after consuming 'khichadi' at Hatna village in Manora tehsil in the adjoining Washim district. Children of age group 2-3 years, began vomiting after consuming the 'khichadi' yesterday, which was being provided by the government under the 'mid-day meal' programme to them.
