Thirty-four locals converted into 12-coaches from Nine

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The Western Railway (WR) authorities today upgraded thirtyfour 9-coach local trains into 12-car ones, increasing number of 12-coach services from 474 to 511.

The WR spokesperson Bhagwat Dahisarkar said here today that 34 local trains were converted into 12-coach trains from Nine-cars.

Among these, 30 locals will be terminated or originated from Borivali station and four originating from Andheri railway station.

Eight of these 12-coach trains will run during peak hours (0830 hours to 1130 hours and 1730 hours to 2030 hours).

He said all the trains for Virar railway station were 12-coaches local. The Western Railway runs 1043 services daily.

A Virar train, which leaves Churchgate at 2125 hrs, will be speeded up by 10 minutes and run before the Gujarat-bound Bhavnagar Express.

Besides, an additional local leaving Churchgate at 2107 hrs will be extended to Virar, he added.

Man gets 5 yrs RI for raping minor

Mumbai, Mar 15 (UNI) A local court today sentenced a man to five years rigorous imprisonment for raping a 13-year-old minor girl in 2005. Additional sessions judge K U Chandiwal also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Tarachand Nevale (30) or else an additional six months rigorous imprisonment. According to the prosecution, the accused had on June 28, 2005 kidnapped the victim from Shivaji Nagar at Govandi in and taken to a guest house in Mankhurd, where he kept her.....

Husband-wife succumbs to their burn injuries in hospital

Jamnagar, Mar 15 (UNI) A young housewife and her husband, who sustained serious burn injuries due to a stove burst, succumbed to their injuries in a local hospital today. The deceased has been identified as - Laxmiben Arunbhai (27) and Arun Petabhai (30), residing in Motikhokhari village in Jamnagar district. Police said the incident occurred on March four, when the kerosene stove in which Laxmiben was preparing food burst accidentally. Her husband, who rushed to rescue here, was also severely burnt......
