Syngene enters into research partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb

Bangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) Biocon Limited, India's premier biotechnology company today announced that its subsidiary company Syngene has entered into a research partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb for research and development (R&D) services for discovery and early drug development.

Bristol-Myers Squibb would significantly increase the scope of its existing relationship with Biocon's Syngene to further develop integrated capabilities in India in medicinal chemistry, biology, drug metabolism, and pharmaceutical development Biocon said in a release here.

Under the terms of the agreement, Syngene would partner with Bristol-Myers Squibb through a dedicated research facility at Biocon Park here, which was planned to ultimately house more than 400 scientists to help advance Bristol-Myers Squibb's discovery and early drug development.

Leveraging the current global demand for bio-partnering, this alliance aimed to provide cost-effective growth and access to top scientific talent in India.

NHM promotes horticulture, floriculture in Gulbarga

Gulbarga, Mar 14 (UNI) The National Horticulture Mission is promoting horticulture and floriculture in this district by providing subsidies and encouraging micro irrigation, Karnataka Horticulture Development Federation Chairman Allam Prabhu Patil said today. Addressing a press conference here, he said the NHM had brought 285 hectares under horticulture crops cultivation in the district by providing a subsidy of Rs 75 lakh as against the total sanctioned amount of Rs 1.70 crore. Mr Patil said the NHM had promoted banana cultivation.....

Maersk's service to cut transit time to US East Coast

Chennai, Mar 16 (UNI) Maersk Line's mother vessel ''Maersk Djibouti'' arrived at the Chennai Port this morning giving the city and South India a direct link to ports on the US East Coast. Addressing the press here today, Maersk India Private Ltd Vice President Vishal Sharma said ''Maersk Djibouti'' had a maximum capacity of 5,060 TEUs and was the largest container vessel to ever call the Chennai Port. After loading cargo from the Chennai Port, the vessel was expected to leave.....
