Suspended police official allegedly manhandled

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) A personal staff of Chief Minister today allegedly attempted to manhandle a senior police official, now under suspension, waiting to meet the Chief Minister to request him to revoke his suspension.

Official sources said the suspended Police official Muthukaruppan, who got an official appointment to meet Mr Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence, was waiting for his turn to meet the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, a personal staff, who saw the official, got agitated and shouted slogans against him and later tried to manhandle him.

Muthukaruppan was supended by the erstwhile Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on the charges of accumulating wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Jail mates to have telephone access in Karnataka

Mangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) Jailmates in Karnataka will soon have telephone access to have contact with outside world. To begin with Telephone booths, with STD facility, would be installed in Bangalore Central Jail at a cost of Rs 2.39 lakh. However, the facility comes with strict supervision by the authorities, Additional Director General of Police (Prison) S T Ramesh told newsmen here yesterday. He said that the prisoners, both convicted and undertrials, would be provided with telephone cards to speak.....

Seven arrested in flesh trade in MP town

Chhatarpur, MP, Feb 26 (UNI) Seven people, including a couple, were today arrested on the charge of allegedly running flesh trade from a house in a locality here, police said. A police jawan was sent to a house in Civil Lines area as a decoy customer, who was provided a girl for Rs 300. Meanwhile, a raid was carried out. A couple Motilal Agrawal (32) and his wife Mamta Agrawal (32) were arrested along with three women and two men......
