Snowfall to occur in hilly Northern states

Pune, Mar 14 (UNI) Rain or snow are likely to occur at a few places in Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur many places in east Uttar Pradesh, at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Chhattisgarh.

They are also likely to occur at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Orissa, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Dry weather will prevail over Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Day temperatures were above normal in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and south coastal Tamil Nadu.

They were appreciably to markedly below normal in north Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, north Madhya Maharashtra, north Chhattisgarh, north Telangana and in parts of Gujarat.

The temperatures were below normal in Gangetic West Bengal, south Madhya Maharashtra and in remaining parts of Gujarat. They were, however, normal over the rest of the country.

Severe Cold wave conditions prevailed in parts of Uttaranchal and Jammu and Kashmir. Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in Saurashtra and in remaining parts of Uttaranchal. They were below normal in coastal Andhra Pradesh, in parts of east Uttar Pradesh, southwest Rajasthan and in remaining parts of Haryana.

The temperatures were appreciably above normal in Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur. They were above normal in Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, in parts of interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of east Uttar Pradesh.

They were normal over the rest of the country.

Rain or snow had occurred at most places in Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Very light rains had occurred at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, east Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most places in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and at many places in Jharkhand. They had occurred at a few places in Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, at isolated places in Haryana and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Dry weather prevailed over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, west Rajasthan, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Bhuj fishermen protest

Bhuj, Mar 14 (UNI) Over 200 fishermen of the Shekatia village on the seashore off the Gulf of Kutch today held a rally here and submitted a memorandum against the SEZ being built by Adani port. The memorandum was handed over to the Resident Deputy Collector (RDC), who collected it on behalf of Collector Dhanjay Dwivedi. Mah govt to enhance power gen capacity: Governor

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna today said the state government has planned a time bound programme of generating additional power to tide over the acute shortage.
