SAD Candidate leading in Beas assembly constituency

Amritsar, Mar 14 (UNI) SAD candidate Manjinder Singh Kang was leading by a margin of 2200 votes over his nearest rival and sitting MLA Jasbir Singh Dimpa of the Congress in Beas assembly constituency of Punjab.

Polling in Beas Constituency was held on March 11. There are twelve candidates in the fray.

Election in Beas assembly constiteuncy was postponed from February 13 to March 11 following violence in which a Akali worker was killed.

Lucknow, Mar 14 (UNI) Altogether eight nomination papers were filed on the second day of the first phase of Uttar Pradesh election, in which polling will be held for 62 assembly seats on April 7. Now 12 candidates are in fray after four nominations were filed on the opening day. Lucknow, Mar 14 (UNI) Election Commission has announced to put in place a comprehensive photo electoral roll in Uttar Pradesh before the 2009 Lok Sabha election. The decision was taken in New Delhi yesterday in the meeting of the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of the different states. UP CEO Anuj Kumar Bishnoi said here today the EC had decided to have complete photo electoral rolls in the country before the next LS poll. Lucknow, Mar 14 (UNI) In a setback to Congress in Uttar Pradesh, a state-level screening committee of the Election Commission today cleared four more ads of the ruling Samajwadi Party ahead of State Assembly elections. Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu, Mar 8 (UNI) Police today took into custody a Sri Lankan Tamil here for allegedly staying without any valid travel document or permission. Police said, Immanuel of Jaffna had been working with a private rice mill here for the past many months without informing of his stay to the authorities. Pune, Mar 15 (UNI) National Congress Party's Rajlaxmi Bhosale won the Mayoral election to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) here today, defeating the Congress candidate Shailaja Manikrao Khedekar, even as the BJP staged a walk out protesting the attack on its member by the NCP. Ms Bhosale garnered 67 votes, while Ms Khedekar got 52 votes in the election. With the NCP winning the election, the Congress control over the civic body has come to an end. District.....
