Rupee opens low at 44.30/32 per USD

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The Rupee today opened low at 44.30/32 against the US dollar compared to its last close of 44.20/22, on fresh selling pressure of dollar by bankers, dealers said.

Later, it fluctuated between 44.30 and 33.37.

They stated that the Rupee stuck to a middle path while investors and traders globally waited for firm outlook to develop. The yen's gains or dollar's weakness did not affect the Rupee even as traders kept a watchful eye on state-run bank activity and stock market flows.

State-run banks were believed to have kept the Rupee on a tight leash around 44.20 for several sessions last month. The choppy stock market brought little support to the Indian currency, a leading dealer added.
