Police directs newspapers not to publish 'magic drug' ads

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) In compliance with High Court orders, police today directed editors of all daily newspapers not to publish advertisements pertaining to drugs or remedies claiming to have ''magic qualities''.

Additional Commissioner of Police Depender Pathak said if any publication was found to be violating the High Court order it may be punishable under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

The Delhi High Court on February 21 passed the order prohibiting publication or broadcast of objectionable advertisements given by magic healers.

Metro Services to be curtailed tomorrow on Holi

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) The Delhi Metro will run on curtailed services on the occasion of Holi festival tomorrow. Metro services will not be available till 1400 hrs tomorrow on all three lines of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), i.e, Shahdara to Rithala, VishwaVidyalaya to Central Secretariat and Indraprastha to Dwarka Sector-9, a DMRC spokesperson said. CJI Urged To Boycott SAARC Karachi Law Meet

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) Citing Pakistan's ''contempt for the highest judiciary,'' the Bar Association of India tonight urged an Indian delegation to boycott a South Asian law conference scheduled in Pakistan. Over 37% Indian women suffer spousal violence

New Delhi, Mar 3 (UNI) Despite passage of a legislation to provide succour to women affected with domestic violence, over 37 per cent married women suffer from this social menace.
